Construction Updates

January 8, 2026

Crews have demolished the old bridge and cleared the debris from the work area. Work is now underway to stabilize the soil ahead of construction of the new bridge.

Part of that stabilization work involves drilling holes to place several large cylinders, which will be filled with concrete and eventually form a strong foundation for the new bridge. Stone columns are also being added to provide stabilization to the soil around the new bridge foundation.

Work hours are anticipated to be Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. No night work is anticipated in the immediate future.

Marked detour routes are in place. Please see the maps below for details.

About the Construction

Construction is underway to build a new, 83-foot-wide bridge with roadway improvements including curb and gutter, trail, drainage, water utilities and upgrades to landscaping.

During this work, 820 North at the bridge site and the Provo River Parkway Trail between 900-800 North will be closed to maintain public safety and allow crews to efficiently complete their work.

Generally, the contractor anticipates the phasing to be:

  • Soil stabilization through December

  • Construction of the foundation and abutments, or the vertical support structures that distribute weight from the bridge deck through the structure, from January to March

  • Setting of the girders, or the big, horizontal beams that support the road and are major milestone of construction, is anticipated in April

  • Final construction of the road, including asphalt replacement, curb and gutter, drainage, and striping is anticipated through mid-summer

  • These dates are tentative and dependent on weather, materials availability, other factors, and may change

Work hours are anticipated to be Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. No night work is anticipated for the immediate future. Marked detour routes are in place; please see maps below for details.

What You Can Expect During Construction:
  • Bridge and trail closures for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians will last until the bridge work is complete, anticipated summer 2026.

  • Noise, dust and vibration. Intermittent side street and driveway access interruptions. Planned interruptions will be communicated in advance to residents.

  • If you run into problems, please stay out of the work zone and contact the team via phone or text at 385-386-3806.
